EWG, the Jersey headquartered FinTech company and specialist digital banking partner to the fiduciary, corporate, and fund services sectors, is now a sponsor of the Jersey Schoolboys U15 football team.
In preparation for the fiercely fought annual Jersey vs Guernsey schoolboys football fixture, which has been played for more than 100 years, the Jersey squad will be travelling to Liverpool on 24th – 26th February to play two friendly fixtures against the highly respected Wirral Schools Football Association, thanks to support from EWG.
James Scott, Assistant Headteacher and coach for the Jersey boys U15 squad, said: “Thanks to the kind support of EWG, the boys will be able to get some challenging fixtures played against two highly respected teams from the Wirral Schools FA - a trip which will provide essential team bonding ahead of the upcoming annual Star Trophy U15 fixture. The boys have been selected from across all the secondary schools so they will not only be representing Jersey, but also their school too. They’ll even be taking a trip to see Everton vs Aston Villa – which we hope will be an inspiring experience for them – and for many of our team, this will be their first time at a topflight premiership football match. We couldn’t provide these amazing experiences for the boys, who have been training incredibly hard in preparation for the trip, if it weren’t for the kind support from EWG, Youniversal Care and Jersey Sport.”
“We are delighted to be supporting young people in sport through our sponsorship of the Jersey boys U15 football team,” said Alan Yates, Director of EWG. “We think it’s very important that young people have the opportunity to take part in team sports, which equip them with many skills they’ll use throughout their lives. I am particularly passionate about this sponsorship as I was a member of the Star Trophy U15 squad and I took so many valuable life lessons away from my time with the team.”
The annual Jersey vs Guernsey schoolboys fixture will take place on 2nd April, in Guernsey.
